Opportunity to Share your views for the Joint SEND Inspection

From Monday 14 October to Friday 18 October 2019, Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) will carry out jointly an inspection of Coventry City Council.

The inspection will evaluate how effectively the local area:

• identifies children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities

• assesses and meets the needs of children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities

• improves outcomes for children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities.
Please see the letter attached which outlines detailed information being shared with parent/carers to share their views and feedback of their experiences. It outlines the 3 key areas of inspection. Any questions or queries on how to feed into the SEND joint local area inspection next week , please do not hesitate to contact us. Please also see our parent carer survey so we can capture your views ahead of the start of next weeks inspection. We will also have paper copies available.
In addition, we have an opportunity for parents/carers to attend a face to face session in the city centre on Tuesday 15th October 11:45-1pm. If you would like to participate please contact us.

The inspection will also include an online webinar to allow other parents and carers in the Coventry City Council local area to contribute. The session will be available on demand, and we will ask parents and carers to share their views and experiences on how effectively the Coventry City Council local area is fulfilling the above responsibilities. While we understand that many parents and carers may have views on their experience that extend before the implementation of the reforms in September 2014, it is important that this date is used as the start for gathering evidence about the impact of the reforms as part of our new inspections. We would also like parents and carers to understand that we will not be able to follow up or comment upon individual cases.

The webinar will be available on demand between Monday 07 October and midnight on Tuesday 15 October 2019. Please note this webinar can be re-accessed if additional time is required to make comment.
